Kellihers Cork goes solar

Through our dedicated renewable energy division, Rexel Energy Solutions,  Kellihers is championing the adoption of innovative renewable energy systems in Ireland. Part of our ongoing commitment to renewable energy means that practicing what we preach, and invest in renewable solutions for our own operations. There’s no better example of that than the recent upgrade of the Solar PV installation at our Tramore Road, Cork branch.

In the March 2016 edition of the Kellihers Spotlight newsletter we reported on the installation of a 1KW Solar PV array at the branch. This small-scale system demonstrated a typical 4-panel array that could be installed on new-build properties to comply with the new Part L building regulations, and served as a proof of concept, demonstrating that solar energy is indeed a viable proposition in the Irish climate.

Following the success of that initial installation we’re delighted to reveal that our Tramore Road branch has now gone fully solar, with a brand new Solar PV installation set to generate 11,000 to 12,000 KWh per year.

Featuring an innovative Van-der-valk mounting system and high efficiency Fronius inverters, the system was installed by Cork based PV Generation (who operate nationwide, and who’s services we’d highly recommend if you’re looking for your own installer). The new system will save the branch up to €1,700 per year on energy costs.

Energy generated via the new Solar PV system can be monitored and analysed in real time both in store and live via the web here.
