The Challenge
Brewers Close sits in the heart of Dublin’s historic Liberties, a vibrant area of culture, nightlife and shopping. The development is a 235‑bed student accommodation complex across five blocks and incorporates the restored, protected No.10 Mill Street.
The development required a complete lighting design that:
- Ensured fixtures were specified and positioned to maximise the rejuvenated space’s potential, providing appropriate illumination levels throughout the site.
- Respected and complemented the character of the restored protected structure.
- Met energy-efficiency targets and low-maintenance objectives.
- Was supplied and installed on schedule despite COVID-19 lockdowns and global supply-chain disruptions.
Balancing modern lighting performance with heritage-sensitive design and logistical challenges required coordinated supplier engagement, bespoke product selection and timely delivery planning.
The Solution
Our lighting specialist from Kellihers/CT Electric Sligo led the full lighting design and supply, collaborating with O’Neill Mechanical & Electrical and top lighting brands to specify and install premium fixtures for optimal performance, longevity, and aesthetic cohesion
Key elements of our lighting solutions included:
- Premium fixtures:
- Expert lighting supplier Southgate Lighting worked closely with our CT Electric Sligo team to provide their trademark-quality LED fittings, complementing both the outdoor and indoor areas of this modern student development.
- Our team also supplied decorative and bespoke fixtures, including pendant lights, internal feature lamps and external bollards from Lira Lighting, Fatboy and Muuto. These products delivered a premium, cohesive finish throughout the development.
- Bespoke design:
- a full-site lighting layout supplied by specialists, ensuring the right fixtures are placed in optimal locations.
- Heritage-sensitive selection:
- Decorative and tonal fittings chosen to complement the restored No.10 Mill Street while meeting modern performance standards.
- Coordinated delivery:
- CT Electric Sligo managed supplier integration and project logistics with installers to ensure technical alignment and on-time handover despite COVID-related challenges.
The Results
Full lighting installation across five blocks and 235 student beds with a consistent, high-quality lighting environment.
Improved energy efficiency and lower lifecycle costs through LED technology
Low-maintenance specification reduced operational disruption and long-term upkeep costs.
Lighting design preserved and enhanced the character of the protected No.10 Mill Street while modernising resident spaces.
